History
In 2000, the Government of Finland, Varma-Sampo Mutual Pension Insurance Company (currently Varma Mutual Employment Pension Insurance Company), Teollisuusvakuutus Oy (currently Sampo Plc) and Novo Group Plc (currently Logica Suomi Ltd) decided to establish a company specialising in human resource management services.
The new company was founded by expanding the operation scope of pension insurance provider Eläkepalvelu Oy, a subsidiary of Varma-Sampo, by merging into it functions and services of Novo Group Plc (private-sector payroll services) and of the State Treasury (public-sector payroll services).
Silta Oy was founded on 1 May 2001 to provide payroll management services for the private and public sector as well as pension insurance services for companies, pension foundations and pension funds. In connection with the founding of the company, personnel fund service provider Rahastopalvelu RP Oy, entirely owned by Eläkepalvelu Oy, as well as the 19-percent owned SV Benefic Oy, engaged in the provision of services related to HR risk surveys, were transferred to Silta Oy.
On 8 January 2002, Silta Oy increased its ownership of SV Benefic Oy to 100 percent.
On 30 September 2005, the company purchased 10 percent of Kuntalaskenta Oy established by the city of Pieksämäki and the municipality of Pieksänmaa, and increased its ownership of the company to 49.9 percent on 22 February 2007. Kuntalaskenta Oy provides financial management services.
On 1 October 2007, Silta Oy acquired three companies: headhunting and recruitment service provider Konsulttitoimisto Jaakko Lehto Oy, outplacement service provider Oy Promotive Ab and HR consultancy service provider JL Outsourcing Oy (subsequently Silta HRM Oy).
On 1 January 2010, Silta Oy will merge its entirely-owned subsidiaries Rahastopalvelu RP Oy, Konsulttitoimisto Jaakko Lehto Oy, Oy Promotive Ab, Silta HRM Oy and SV Benefic Oy (SV Benefic Oy currently has no business operations). Kuntalaskenta Oy will remain an affiliate of Silta Oy with an ownership interest of 49.9 percent.
